About Joyce

I moved from Hong Kong to France because I was completely burnt out from corporate life — and because life there had started to feel superficial in ways I couldn't keep ignoring. Sometimes you have to leave the place you're from to actually see it clearly. Leaving felt like relief, and like a door opening to heal parts of myself that had needed it since I was small.

I'd worked in executive search in the financial industry in Hong Kong. I was high-functioning, anxiety-driven, a perfectionist, a people-pleaser — the kind of exhausted that doesn't announce itself until your body starts sending signals you can't ignore anymore.

It was hypnotherapy that changed things — not because it replaced everything else I'd tried, but because it reached something talk alone hadn't. It accessed the childhood experiences that had quietly written the rules I was living by: what I believed about myself, how those beliefs shaped my decisions, and how those decisions kept the same emotional patterns turning over. Speaking to the parts of me that were still holding those old feelings — the inner child — is what let me actually change, not just understand why I wasn't changing.

Since then, I can look at my past with a different perspective. I've become more patient — with myself and with the people around me. I understand what unconditional love actually means, not just as an idea. I feel steadier, emotionally, than I ever did before.

Since leaving Hong Kong — where I'm from, not an expat — I've rebuilt life as an expat three times over: in France, then Mauritius, then Spain. Each move meant leaving behind a community and rhythm I'd built, and starting again. It's part of why this work, and this niche, means what it does to me: I'm not describing the expat experience from the outside. I've done the "start over, again" more than once.

I trained at École Centrale d'Hypnose in Paris. Since then, I've continued training in other approaches that inform how I work:

  • Parts Theory
  • EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • EMDR

Expats who need inner healing but need to do that work with someone who speaks their language — literally. People who've been trying to change things on their own, who understand the pattern intellectually but keep landing back in it, and who are ready and willing to be helped, not just to keep managing alone.
